Han Dong

Born in Nanjing in 1961, Han Dong is the founder of the “Them literature society” which began in 1984. The following year, the experimental poetry group began a journal intended to explore the breadth and depth of contemporary Chinese poetry. Critics considered this movement a milestone in the “the third generation of poetry”. This prolific literary figure’s most representative works include Of the Wild Goose Pagoda and You Have Seen the Sea. The full-length novel Banished (title as translated by Nicky Harman) received a prestigious media award for Chinese literature and the English translation a PEN Translation Award.
