"International Partnership Forum: Urban Development and Cultural Diversity" launched at the UNESCO headquarters in Paris
The opening ceremony of Paris’ “Nanjing Week” and “International Partnership Forum: Urban Development and Cultural Diversity” hosted by the Nanjing City of Literature Promotion Centre was held at the UNESCO headquarters in Paris on October 24, 2018.
Le Clézio, French author and Nobel Prize recipient; Xu Jun, a French-Chinese translator and winner of the Golden Medal of Education in France; Bi Feiyu, a Chinese writer and winner of the French Ordre des Arts et des Lettres; and Du Yue, a UNESCO Department of African Sector Coordination and Partnerships Director were all active participants in the meeting, sharing thoughts on topics such as cross-border integration and innovative development.
The launch ceremony of the English version of Porcelain Tower of Nanjing and Tale of the Imperial Examination was held at the event along with both Chinese and Western style musical performances by the Nanjing National Orchestra and Nanjing Philharmonic Orchestra.
This cultural activity boosted Nanjing’s application for the title of “City of Literature in the Creative Cities Network as well as its relationship and cooperation with UNESCO. It succeeded in offering a global audience an excellent insight into the stature and ambition of Nanjing arts and literature.
